[ps] Paper-Folder

This tutorial is inspired by a layout from Pixelbudah. Take a look at it here!
This is a long tutorial. Don't get tired, just hang on :)

Don't forget to save your document often!

1. Open up a new document or your document where you want the tape. I chose 400x300 px for this example.

2. Fill your background color with sonething else than white (if you have a new document) to make it more easy to see the tape.

3. Make a new layer.

4. Use the select tool to draw a rectangle. Fill it with white.

5. Change the opacity of the withe layer to 49%. Depending on your back-ground color, you might want to change it to an even lower value, as 20%. Try and see what looks best for you!

6. Zoom in at least 500%.

7. Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to create the "broken" ends of the tape.

8. Delete the selection. Repaet for the other side of the tape.

9. Add Drop Shadow and Stroke. See values below.

10. Done!

4. Copy this layer. Name the new layer "back". Add a drop shadow to this layer, same as for the "front"-layer. Move the layer horizontally by holding shift while moving it with the Move Tool.

5. Time for the holes. Use the select tool to draw a circle. Do not remove the selection. Head up to Select -> Modify -> Contract 4 px. Fill it with white color.

6. Add Bevel and Emboss to the circle.

7. We want it too look like the paper inside the folder is visible through the hole we just made so pick the Magic Tool and click inside the circle to select that area. Then you create a new layer, name it "paper behind hole" and paint it with white (paper) color.

8. Repeat this for three more holes and paper behind holes. Place the holes as I did. (Or as you want:)

9. Time to add some paper inside the folder. Create a new layer. Put it between the "front" and "back"layers. I used the Pen Tool to draw a thin rectangle which will be the paper and added the same style (drop shadow) as on the "front" and "back" layers. Add as many papers as you wish. To make it look interesting I added 3 papers and rotaded/moved my them slightly.

10. Time to add the straps! Use the selection tool to draw a strap. Keep the selection. Color it with: #85C3C1. Add some lines to it. I added a new layer above my strap-layer and used black scan lines with opacity 15%. And then merged the two layers.

11. Move your strap to the correct position with Edit->Rotate and the Move Tool.

12. Copy the strap and move it to the hole closest to the one you just used.

13. Copy again and go to Transform -> Flip Horizontal. Position in to the two remaining holes. Merge the strap-layers so that you only get one strap layer top work with.

14. Erase the parts of the straps that are outside the folder.

15. Almost done now! Hang on :)

16. Use a small brush eraser to take away a little bit of the strap inside the hole. Give a look of being stretched. Zoom in!

17.I used the Burn Tool to add some edge to the straps.

18. Add some details to your folder and you are done! Here is my example:

6. This is the first layer.

7. Copy the picture again (the unedited one) and paste on top of the LAYER ONE.
